Snowmageddon 2015

Good Morning!!! Ah, Winter! First, let me just say I'm thankful that I do not live in New England. I have friends and family in that area, and I know they are getting hammered with snow this Winter. My prayers to all of them.

Hey, we got some substantial snow here in the Midwest!!! I know, the most we've gotten all Winter. It's as if the Snow Gods just didn't love us enough this winter, but that is okay with me. Not so much with my girls. I have two, snow-loving dogs. Two Siberian Huskies! They live for these types of snow days and over last night we got at least 8 inches of snow!! So what's a girl to do with two huskies,...GO OUTSIDE!

Here in the Schmidt household we bundle up for the Husky Romp. The girls know, that when those snow boots come out, it's time to gear up!! However, at 7AM they were dropping all the hints that it was time.

L to R: Maya and Piper. Wake up, Mom!!!!! It's time!!!
Look at those faces!! How can you say 'no'!?! I certainly struggle every day to say it.

At our apartment complex, we have two dog runs. Fully fenced in and just a nice space for them to run. Luckily, my husband and I live in an apartment closest to the run. Therefore, I am only dragged about 100 feet.....but today, I won the battle of the drag. The girls struggled to get through the snow, that piled up against their chest. So the drag became a nice walk to the gate and my arms did not come out of their sockets.

Upon inspection of the run, (noone was there), I opened the gate and un-clipped their collars. They were off!!!!! There was no turning back now from it. Fresh powder flew up as they pushed their way through it. By the time I reached the bench for the moms and dads, the girls had made at least two rounds. Here's the initial fear I have when they run, I become the target of choice.

Whoop, hold on, potty break...la la la la la la la la...tie up the bag....in the can....Ok, back to where I was.
Yes, target of choice. If I move, I'm instantly targeted. Well the incident occurred as Piper the Sniper lined me up in her scope, and as I was throwing away the potty bag, she insisted on expressing her enthusiasm by jumping up and pushing off my back. Luckily, I have reasonably good balance and did not fall into a can full of poo.

As the wind picked up, and the girls slowly tired, I figured now would be the best time to get some photos to show my husband - who by the way was staying warm and cozy still asleep. One thing I struggle with most is getting pictures of the girls in motion. It's almost impossible and to try it with a camera phone is pretty much laughable. As troublesome it is for the girls for me to get in the way of their romp and tussle, they pose fairly well.

Please, enjoy our Husky Romp 2015
Race ya!!!
Who doesn't love a good roll in the snow??

What!? Can't keep up Maya!!!???

Ah, the life of a husky owner.
