And The Winner Is........
Dallas Seavey has done it again! Winning the 1,000 mile treck across Alaska's terrain with no more than supplies, a sled, and a team of dogs that he stated before the race started "this is the team capable of defending the title.". Well he did it, all in a matter of 8 days, 18 hours, 13 minutes, and 6 seconds.
As the temperature hit a balmy 9 degrees just around 4:15AM, Seavey pulled up under the arch in Nome. He started the race with 12 dogs out of Anchorage and then bumped it up to a full 16. This morning he ended with 10 exhausted but strong dogs. If not all, his wins are credited to his dogs. Months of training has gotten him to wear he is today and this was the team that brought home the purse of $70,000 and keys to a new pick-up truck.
So now, it's back to Willow, Alaska to prepare for next year's race, and perhaps much needed sleep for all of Dallas's team.
