I was just leaning back in my chair and thinking to myself that it's been awhile since I've blogged about anything that had substance to it. I nitpick a lot. After reviewing my blog, I see that I bounce all over the place. Perhaps that's what makes my blog interesting as a whole to some.
I haven't really shared much about my own personal life and struggles. Right now, my life is chaos. My husband and I are gearing up for a very busy May. Each weekend in May, we have a wedding or wedding-related event to go to. It's that time in your life where friends are either getting engaged, married, or having a baby. Just life. I'm looking forward to a ssslllloooowww April. (Hopefully)
Among other things, our huskies are doing fine. We discovered Piper sings loudly when we make sheep noises at her. I know, right, sheep noises! Maaaaaaaaa or baaaaaaaa seem to get her going. I'll have to make a video tonight and share it. It's hilarious.
Our Disney Movie marathon has continued on. Last night we watched Bambi, and yes, at 28 years old, I still cried like a sap when his mom dies. Yes, Disney movies when Bambi came out were quite dark. Granted it was their Dark period.. . . . Oh Disney! I am looking forward to seeing Disney's newest creation Moana, when it comes out of course. Looks like Disney will be adding a Polynesian princess to the royal court. I think that'll be amazing to have a more diverse looking group. While Disney is advance in so many ways, they are a bit behind in adding diverse characters. I would love to see an Indian princess - that's dot, not feather - or even maybe a Prince's story. We have such wonderful princesses but what about the prince. He has a life of some sort, why not a prince adventure for once. . . .but Disney has evolved in showing us you don't always need a prince to save the day. Example: Frozen, and no, I will not break out into song. *humming Let It Go* FAIL.
Oh speaking of movies, if you haven't already seen Paddington, please do. What a cute movie and Paddington is just down right adorable. Who doesn't enjoy a story about a Peruvian marmalade-loving, suitcase-toting, hat-wearing bear with exceptional manners? A British institution for sure!
I'm bouncing around again,.......Speaking of British, honeymoon/ 1st anniversary venture is on the table and now being considered. We are going to spend a week next Jan in Mexico with friends, but I didn't want to give up an anniversary trip or a honeymoon. So we're going to look into either doing a two city trip or a three city trip to the UK. If we opt for two cities, we'll go to London and then to Dublin with a stop at the Isle of Man for the TT races (motorcycle), so my husband can experience that. Unless we do three cities, which would be London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Either way, I'm pretty pleased with myself since we could do each of those trips and stay through Airbnb. I'm telling ya, we're going to see more places with that under our belt now.
Well the clock is a tickin' here and lots of us are gearing up for our weekly, 3hr staff meeting....no meeting should be or feel that long. =)
Off to work I go. Happy Thursday!

WTF MOMENT OF THE DAY
I am beyond furious. The article that I've posted below, speaks of a tourist in Norway who goes to the mountains just north of the Artic Circle to view the eclipse and was attacked by a polar bear. The tourist did not succumb to his injuries, but for good measure the authorities hunted down and killed this "rogue" bear.
A few notes here:
1. Tourists were given a stern talking to about camping outside in the wilds of the Artic.
2. Polar bears are like any other animal that does not live in a zoo.....WILD.
3. The bear was scared off by gunshots and did not return.
The biggest problem I have hear is that there aren't many polar bears in the world. It's exciting enough to see one in the wild, in it's element. When you enter THEIR element take caution. I think it's completely wrong of authorities to kill an innocent animal. This wasn't a rogue bear. This was a bear simply hunting or even protecting it's territory. I want to see less animals in zoo's and more in the wild. This is their planet too!! We need to co-exist together and protect them not kill them...unless it's for survival...but if you're doing that then you better be that back woodsman, grungy, eat what you only kill type.

And The Winner Is........
Dallas Seavey has done it again! Winning the 1,000 mile treck across Alaska's terrain with no more than supplies, a sled, and a team of dogs that he stated before the race started "this is the team capable of defending the title.". Well he did it, all in a matter of 8 days, 18 hours, 13 minutes, and 6 seconds.
As the temperature hit a balmy 9 degrees just around 4:15AM, Seavey pulled up under the arch in Nome. He started the race with 12 dogs out of Anchorage and then bumped it up to a full 16. This morning he ended with 10 exhausted but strong dogs. If not all, his wins are credited to his dogs. Months of training has gotten him to wear he is today and this was the team that brought home the purse of $70,000 and keys to a new pick-up truck.
So now, it's back to Willow, Alaska to prepare for next year's race, and perhaps much needed sleep for all of Dallas's team.

Today's "It's Enough" Topic
Gaming is a big ordeal in our household. My husband enjoys playing computer games that are online....what are those games called??? First shooter person or something similar to that. You can see I'm completely on top of my game-lingo. The only thing I have gotten out of his gaming are fun cute names that have gone onto be nicknames for our dogs. . . . CheaterPeaks for Piper and HealthyCheekums for Maya. Those names just sound cute!!!
I do get a small kick out of hearing my husband cursing loudly or talking to someone on the other end of his microphone. It's completely random and at times if I'm not watching him, you'd think he was talking to himself. At times I think if I walk past the bedroom, he's talking to him. It's confusing and funny at times.
That being said, I've SUGGESTED a time out for him. He's been so frustrated with his game that, I suggested it be time for him to take a month long break. So this may or may not be a long month. Who knows?!

Happy Birthday to Me!!
Well, today is the day! I am 28yrs old! Not too hard to imagine as I get closer to the big 3-0. In my 28 years, I've done and seen quite a bit. Traveled to Europe and the Carribean. Lived in Alaska (briefly, but it counts), moved to the Midwest, got engaged, and last year got married. It's been a glorious 28 years, and I'm looking forward to God continuing to bless my friends and family as well as my marriage.
Thanks to my birth-mom for giving birth to me and big thanks to my mom for adopting me and loving me as her own.

And They Are Off....
I like to compete in what I call "couch mushing". I know, sounds like a silly college past-time. Which in fact it might be, but the type of mushing I am lovingly referring to is tracking the 2015 Iditarod. Having lived some of my life in Alaska, I feel this connection to keep up with the past-times of Alaska. The Iditarod is one of those races that you get a mear glimpse into it at the ceremonial start, and then after that it's thirteen days of rough terrain from Willow to Nome. (This year is a little different due to adverse weather conditions, or lack there of.)
The ceremonial start was Sat Mar 7th in downtown Anchorage. Alaska, has had the mildest winter of the year so far. Volunteers piled snow into the streets to accommodate the mushers as they made their way through town. After completing the ceremonial start, mushers and dogs were flown 359 miles to the northern town of Fairbanks. Due to not having enough snow along the original trail, the race was re-routed to start in Fairbanks instead of Willow. Alaska?! Not enough snow!? WHAT?!?!!
Two of my favorite mushers are, again, competing in this year's race. Dallas Seavey and DeeDee Jonrowe. Dallas is one of the youngest mushers and completed last year's race in the fastest time. He's pretty cool in the simple fact that stardom has not hit him and it's always all about the dogs. (As it should be.)
Definitely not lastly, my personal favorite and I'm a supporter of DeeDee Jonrowe. DeeDee is not only a female musher - which is fantastic in it's own right - but is also a cancer survivor. This year, DeeDee is running her 30th Iditarod and in spectacular fashion of course. If you can't see her team then you are really blind. . . .
Early this morning, mushers hit their 5th checkpoint, Manley Hot Springs. After food and rest, they'll move onto Tanana. I suspect that they'll make it there later this evening, if not tonight. Best of luck to all mushers!!! I'll catch up in a few days and hope for more snow to make the terrain a smidge easier, because let's face it, it's Alaska, the last rough frontier.
The map show's this year's route (white line)...

The Official Disney Cartoon Canon Index! Enjoy
The list and descriptions below are from http://blog.bcdb.com/disney-cartoon-canon-index/. I think this person or persons give a great description of each era of Disney and what movies actually belong in this list. Enjoy....
"These are the animated films that make up the official oeuvre of the Walt Disney studios, or what is often referred to as the official canon of Disney animated films. There may be some films that you may not consider animated that are on this list, and conversely there may be many films you instantly associate with Disney that are not considered part of the animated Disney film list. But for whatever reason, this is the list. Do you think Mary Poppins, Pete’s Dragon or even Victory Through Air Power should be on the list? You are not alone… and you would be wrong. Not enough animation. Heck, even the now-classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit doesn’t make the list!
What Films Are On The Disney Animated Film List?
Then there is Dinosaur on the list- most people have not even seen that one. And yet it was produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation, the division of Disney that makes the official films. Contrast that to Toon Disney or other sub divisions that make animated films- even feature-length and theatrically-released films like Return To Never Land and Planes- and those don’t count. Sort of confusing, isn’t it.
Thus this list. One place to come to to see all the official Disney animated films in one place. If you want to see all the Disney animated films- chronologically- just head over to the Disney Studio page at BCDB. That’s Toon Disney and WDFA… and a LOT of other stuff. But for the purists, here are the official Disney Feature Animated Films…."
The Disney Classic Animated Films Era
These are the classic films that started it all. Walt Disney hand-crafted each of these with his personal vision of what he wanted. Each film seems to take huge steps forward in the art, from the opening multiplane shot of Pinocchio to the naturalism of Bambi.
1 Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs December 21, 1937
2 Pinocchio February 7, 1940
3 Fantasia November 13, 1940
4 Dumbo October 23, 1941
5 Bambi August 13, 1942
The Disney Anthology Film Era
After World War II, audiences decline and income from films had fallen, and Disney needed to produce films on a tighter budget. These next films helped control costs by combining shorter segments into one film. Many of these films also combined live-action with animation (There are other films made during this period that do not make the list because they are predominately live-action, such as Song of the South.)
6 Saludos Amigos February 6, 1943
7 The Three Caballeros February 3, 1945
8 Make Mine Music April 20, 1946
9 Fun & Fancy Free September 27, 1947
10 Melody Time May 27, 1948
11 The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mister Toad October 5, 1949
The Disney Silver Era of Animated Films
With the strict budgets of the anthology period over, Disney returned to fairy tales. Bright colors prevail, with art direction from Mary Blair and Eyvind Earle. The new Xerography process is added in 1961, which all but saves animation at Disney after the colossal failure of Sleeping Beauty. The later films from this era saw Walt Disney’s influence waning, drawn away from films by television and the new park in Anaheim California and plans for a second park in Florida.
12 Cinderella February 15, 1950
13 Alice In Wonderland July 28, 1951
14 Peter Pan February 5, 1953
15 Lady And The Tramp June 16, 1955
16 Sleeping Beauty January 29, 1959
17 One Hundred And One Dalmatians January 25, 1961
18 The Sword In The Stone December 25, 1963
19 The Jungle Book October 18, 1967
The Disney Animation Dark Age
This period began with the death of Walt Disney, and continued through the Ron Miller period. This era also saw the retiring of the original Disney animators, and a new group emerge as the main animators at Disney. Largely, the company is directionless for most of this period.
20 The Aristocats December 24, 1970
21 Robin Hood November 8, 1973
22 The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh March 11, 1977
23 The Rescuers June 22, 1977
24 The Fox And The Hound July 10, 1981
25 The Black Cauldron July 24, 1985
26 The Great Mouse Detective July 2, 1986
27 Oliver & Company November 18, 1988
The Disney Animated Film Renaissance
Disney emerges from the Dark Ages with a bang. The new films are huge successes, bigger than any preceding this period. New studios are opened in Florida and Paris to keep up with the new demand for animated films from Disney. The studio has a stated goal to produce two films a year. Disney CEO Michael Eisner discovers direct-to-video, and makes sequels to nearly every classic Disney film during this period.
28 The Little Mermaid November 17, 1989
29 The Rescuers Down Under November 16, 1990
30 Beauty And The Beast November 22, 1991
31 Aladdin November 25, 1992
32 The Lion King June 24, 1994
33 Pocahontas June 23, 1995
34 The Hunchback Of Notre Dame June 21, 1996
35 Hercules June 27, 1997
36 Mulan June 5, 1998
37 Tarzan June 15, 1999
38 Fantasia 2000 December 31, 1999
The Post Renaissance Disney Films
Everything new becomes old, and audiences tire of the Disney “formula.” After seeing the success of Shrek at DreamWorks, Eisner decrees that hand-drawn is dead, and 3D CGI animation is the wave of the future. He closes the satellite studios, fires the traditional animators on staff and heads Disney into the CGI sunset. Toon Disney is spun into sequel hell as Eisner tries to wring every last penny out of all Disney properties. He is opposed (and eventually deposed) by Roy Disney.
39 Dinosaur May 30, 2000
40 The Emperor’s New Groove December 15, 2000
41 Atlantis: The Lost Empire June 15, 2001
42 Lilo & Stitch June 21, 2002
43 Treasure Planet November 27, 2002
44 Brother Bear November 1, 2003
45 Home On The Range March 21, 2004
46 Chicken Little November 4, 2005
47 Meet The Robinsons March 30, 2007
48 Bolt November 17, 2008
The Disney Animation Revival and the Future of Disney Animated Films
Disney seems to right itself again. Now having bounced to both ends of the spectrum, Disney has found that it cannot be either a hand-drawn animation company nor a CG company, but must find it’s own middle ground. With John Lassiter’s entrance from Pixar and his steering the ships focus from Eisner’s fancination on new technologies back to a studio-wide priority on solid, well-told and well-constructed stories, Disney has weathered another storm and once again emerged from a sea of troubles to take the crown as the animation studio. Disney’s films gain in popularity, and with Frozen once again rivaling the great success of The Lion King, the studio seems to be back in charge. Until the next dip.
49 The Princess And The Frog December 18, 2009
50 Tangled November 24, 2010
51 Winnie The Pooh April 13, 2011
52 Wreck-It Ralph November 2, 2012
53 Frozen November 27, 2013
54 Big Hero 6 November 07, 2014
55 Zootopia March 04, 2016
56 Moana November 23, 2016
57 Giants 2018

This Disney Train Is Rollin'
So this past weekend we spent some of our time watching Disney movies. I tell you sitting down and watching movies you haven't seen in 15-20 years is just so wonderful.
We did manage to get in two classics, 101 Dalmations and Cinderella. I love those movies, but I think my all time favorite movies are from Disney's Renaissance era (89-99). During this decade, the studio produced and released 10 animated films: The Little Mermaid (1989), The Rescuers Down Under (1990), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aladdin (1992), The Lion King (1994), Pocahontas (1995), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), Hercules (1997), Mulan (1998), and Tarzan (1999).
I think tonight, we'll watch The Rescuers Down Under, Mulan, and Hercules.
A fun note, the first Disney movie I saw in theaters was The Little Mermaid. The sea witch scared me, but I recall from stories my Aunt Mimi told me, that I loved all the colors and singing. I do look forward to re-watching these movies with my own children.
What is your favorite Disney movie and when was the last time you watched it?

Let The Disney Movie Marathon Commence!!!!!
Oh it's on!!! My wonderful husband, has updated our movie collection with crisp, HD Disney movies, and we're starting at the top of the list.
Most of you already experience the thrill of sharing your favorite Disney classics with your kids. I look forward to the day we get to do that. Tonight, we'll start with a personal favorite of mine and a classic, Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
Some fun facts are below....
1. While Julie Andrews initially turned down the role of Miss Price, she eventually reconsidered, believing she owed her film career to the Disney studio and wanting to work there again. However, when she told the studio she changed her mind, Angela Lansbury had already accepted the part, having signed her contract for the role on Halloween of 1969.
2. The song The Beautiful Briny Sea was originally written for a sequence in Mary Poppins (1964) that was ultimately dropped.
3. Filming took place at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California. The castle scenes were shot on location at Corfe Castle, Dorset, England.
4. The armor used for the climactic battle against the Nazis had been assembled in Spain for the movie El Cid and was later shipped to Burbank for use in the movie Camelot before being rented for this film.
5. At the 1971 Academy Awards, Bedknobs and Broomsticks won Best Visual Effects.
6. This was the last Disney-branded film to receive an Academy Award until The Little Mermaid (1989), though others received nominations and two Touchstone films, The Color of Money (1986) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), received awards before that.
7. Many people in the film, both on and off screen, have actual connections to WWII. Angela Lansbury, Roddy McDowall and Robert Stevenson all emigrated to the US from the UK due to the outbreak of war, while David Tomlinson served as a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force and Robert B. Sherman served in the United States Army and was one of the first Allied soldiers to see the Dachau concentration camp. He used his time recuperating from a gunshot wound to the knee to learn about the English people and their culture. On the other side, Manfred Lating and Fred Hellmich were native-born Germans who had actually lived under Nazi rule.
8. HIDDEN MICKEY: In the establishing shot of the animated soccer game, a bear wearing a Mickey Mouse T-shirt can be spotted in the crowd on the right side of the picture.
9. This was the last Disney film released while Roy O. Disney was still alive. He died a week after its US premiere.
10. The film's opening credits sequence is a homage to the Bayeux Tapestry, a seamless linen cloth made by the French in medieval times which tells the story of the Norman Conquest of England.

Transitions & Change
Transition: noun tran·si·tion \tran(t)-ˈsi-shən, tran-ˈzi-, chiefly British tran(t)-ˈsi-zhən\: a change from one state or condition to another.
As I round the corner to my 28th birthday, I realize that I have made changes and transitions in my life that may have been abrupt or sudden for other people in my life. I have encouraged a lot of people to "go with the flow" as I've made my way from child to teen, to adult to fiance' to wife. I haven't been quite understanding of people who have struggled with these transitions.
I will always be my mother's child, always, without question. I think that while I make transitions and changes which really have occurred in a 4 yr span, it'll be an adjustment for lots of people around me. I need to have patience and understanding of the struggle and also, strength.
Here's to another year of transitions and changes. I welcome everything that comes my way. Good or bad.
Change: verb \ˈchānj\: to become different : to make (someone or something) different : to become something else

Love Knows No Boundaries
This is just fantastic!! I mean really, really brilliant. With all the hate, war, and anti-everything going on in this world and in our own backyard, it warms the heart to see love just shine through.
Encourage love and hold those dear to you!

Law & Order
Good Morning! *sigh* It's been a long few days. I have been summoned for Jury Duty this week, and luckily was selected to be on a case. I have to say, it's been an enjoyable experience. Remember, life is what you make it. If you set out to have a horrible time, you're going to have one. Yes, the waiting wasn't great but that's ok. I brought a book and just read. I'm a people person, so I felt comfortable being part of a group and talking to people I wouldn't normally meet on a day to day basis.
I ended up getting selected for a trial that started and ended (thankfully) on Tuesday. I ended up being the Foreperson - ya know that person that stands up and states the jury's verdict. That was awesome!!! I'll tell ya, if I could have a career as a permanent juror, I would. I enjoyed listening to both sides and all the testimonies.
I definitely got into the wrong career. =) Calling in tonight and hopefully I'm needed!!!
*Dum!! Dum!!* Law & Order chime

Snowmageddon 2015
Good Morning!!! Ah, Winter! First, let me just say I'm thankful that I do not live in New England. I have friends and family in that area, and I know they are getting hammered with snow this Winter. My prayers to all of them.
Hey, we got some substantial snow here in the Midwest!!! I know, the most we've gotten all Winter. It's as if the Snow Gods just didn't love us enough this winter, but that is okay with me. Not so much with my girls. I have two, snow-loving dogs. Two Siberian Huskies! They live for these types of snow days and over last night we got at least 8 inches of snow!! So what's a girl to do with two huskies,...GO OUTSIDE!
Here in the Schmidt household we bundle up for the Husky Romp. The girls know, that when those snow boots come out, it's time to gear up!! However, at 7AM they were dropping all the hints that it was time.

| L to R: Maya and Piper. Wake up, Mom!!!!! It's time!!! |
Look at those faces!! How can you say 'no'!?! I certainly struggle every day to say it.
At our apartment complex, we have two dog runs. Fully fenced in and just a nice space for them to run. Luckily, my husband and I live in an apartment closest to the run. Therefore, I am only dragged about 100 feet.....but today, I won the battle of the drag. The girls struggled to get through the snow, that piled up against their chest. So the drag became a nice walk to the gate and my arms did not come out of their sockets.
Upon inspection of the run, (noone was there), I opened the gate and un-clipped their collars. They were off!!!!! There was no turning back now from it. Fresh powder flew up as they pushed their way through it. By the time I reached the bench for the moms and dads, the girls had made at least two rounds. Here's the initial fear I have when they run, I become the target of choice.
Whoop, hold on, potty break...la la la la la la la la...tie up the bag....in the can....Ok, back to where I was.
Yes, target of choice. If I move, I'm instantly targeted. Well the incident occurred as Piper the Sniper lined me up in her scope, and as I was throwing away the potty bag, she insisted on expressing her enthusiasm by jumping up and pushing off my back. Luckily, I have reasonably good balance and did not fall into a can full of poo.
As the wind picked up, and the girls slowly tired, I figured now would be the best time to get some photos to show my husband - who by the way was staying warm and cozy still asleep. One thing I struggle with most is getting pictures of the girls in motion. It's almost impossible and to try it with a camera phone is pretty much laughable. As troublesome it is for the girls for me to get in the way of their romp and tussle, they pose fairly well.
