I'm A Melting Pot

Twenty-five years ago, I was placed for adoption in the southern state Kerala--for those of you who are unknown to this states whereabouts, it lies in India. A long flight from the US, I'm sure those with frequent flyer miles could afford to add "visit to India" to their bucket list for a hefty price.
Where was I, oh yes adoption, me, and my quest for bringing awareness to the option. I came to the US when I was year old, adopted by an Italian woman who talks with her hands. No joke. I definitely have embraced the "American Way of Life" and feel as "american" as they come. Growing up in an American lifestyle hasn't had much of an affect on me...I know my culture and where I come from. What life could have been like and all the hard times and good times I may have endured.
I do get excited when I see Indians...like a kid who's met their first superhero. Not that Indians are superheros but in my book it's exciting to see something that seems foreign to me. Especially when I wasn't raised as an Indian.

Don't get me wrong, I love my heritage. I love my mother. I love that I keep growing and learn more about my  culture....both of them. I hope that one day I can give that same feeling to one of my own.
