Our Happily Ever After......

Happy Anniversary to the love of my life!

My wonderful husband, who gives me so much to live for in life. You are my light, my strength, my better half, and my best friend. I can't imagine my life without you. Marrying you has been and will always be the best decision I ever make. I am proud of you and support you. I am beyond blessed by God who helps me see every piece of you. I love you and I will continue to honor you.

xoxo

Talk About It Thursday

Today's topic is the Syrian refugees and the reporter who showed her true colors.

If you haven't seen social and network media yet, check it out. This reporter tripped and kicked refugees fleeing into Hungary from Syria. It's pretty embarrassing as being part of the human race to see this. Who trips a father running carrying his child?? Well, that's what this woman did. Thankfully, her employment has been terminated and her identity has been plastered across the globe.
I'm glad parts of Europe are opening their doors for refugees to come through.

Sound off! What's your opinion on the matter and the refugees fleeing?

Keep Moving Forward

Famous words by a famous man.

Walt Disney himself inspires many and inspires me that this process of closing on a house will go much more smoothly than it has the past few days. Between angered sellers, threatening their realtor, and lawyering up...needless to say we keep moving forward and take the necessary steps to ensure that we get into the home on time and without any aggressive behavior from the sellers.

So...................

KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

Suck brick, kid!!!!

I pulled into the driveway of a beautifully bricked home, stepped out of my car and breathed a sigh of relief. We made it this far and in a few hours, we'll know more about this house and how to proceed with repair requests.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~FAST FORWARD~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, all finished! The inspection went well, better than had we expected. No major issues, everything is little and fixable. Some bigger issues like cracked tiles throughout the kitchen and entry way, but our plan once we save some additional $$ is to tear up the floor and replace w/ hardwood. I definitely think it'll make the main level feel more warm and inviting.
Now it's just a matter of waiting it out (patiently) until closing which is 29 days away. If only it was sooner!!!
And the snide remarks roll in......
It's funny when you share such positive news that you're house hunting and/or found a home with friends and family, and their comments back are snide, rude, with a hint of jealousy.
Some of my personal favorites. . . . . .
"Now, don't go buying a house that's a tiny mansion while the rest of us live poor."
Now, I'm not one to brag about my home because I have yet to have one of my own. I plan on our home being nicely appointed. I'm not sorry my husband and I enjoy the finer things in life. Now, we won't go in debt to enjoy them and we're in no rush to enjoy them. If walking into my home, makes you feel a certain way...I'm sorry, I guess??!! We'll buy whatever home we see fit and what fits our needs.
"I don't see why you're packing already."
Oh, that's because we can. Want to help?
"Oh I thought you were looking in the $110 to $150k range, since that seems most suitable for you two."
Wow! Clearly, you are overly concerned with our finances. Thanks but we're just fine.
"That's the house you're looking at?"
Now the bitch in me just wants to remark back with something snotty, but I don't.
It's ok, home buying isn't for everyone and everyone shouldn't do it. If you don't need a home yet, don't buy one. We didn't need one for almost 5 yrs, so we saved our pennies so we could start higher above the average first time home. That was our preference.
You just can't please everyone and those who have negative things to say, you won't bring us down. We're too high in the sky and enjoying every minute of it.
New Renters On Board!!
Let me just say, God is great!!! He delivered a renter to our door - well our complex's door, and they signed a lease for our apartment!!!
What a relief!!! We don't have to buy out of our lease! I am so thankful  for this blessing!
It's definitely one of those things that when you go into the process of buying a home, you forget the other home you're in...how do I get out of my lease?! Luckily, we had options from our complex. . . we sublet, they sublet, or we buy out.
It'll be sad to leave our home, but we're moving into a bigger home and one, we'll own! That will be ours, and we can paint, and we can do whatever we want. . .watch movies as loud as possible. . . I can walk on my heels.
Just the feeling of more space and that it's ours.
Thank you God for answering our prayers!!!
Hump Day!!!
Happy Hump Day to All!!!
I am exhausted! This whole house buying process is wearing me out. My nerves and anxiety are through the roof. The waiting is the worst part, and I can't seem to find any time to think of any thing else.
My mind is racing with all the wonderful ideas and things I'll get to do in this new home. It'll be ours! No neighbors below us, so I can stomp around all I want. We get to host a wonderful Superbowl party in a kick-a$$ basement!!!! Be jello! ;-)
We'll raise kids in a community that is family-friendly and the girls (aka the dogs) will get to have a yard to romp in.
All of these blessings before I'm thirty.
Here are just a few ideas, that I have for our new home!!!
Home Sweet, Almost Home!!!
Well, we are nearing our close date on our new home! Next week is inspection and hopefully nothing goes wrong there. This will be my hubs and I's first home. We'll raise a family here, have social gatherings, holidays with family members...etc. I'm so grateful for this life. I have a wonderful husband, who puts me first before himself and loves me like no other. We have a loving relationship and share adventures with one another.
I look forward to all the memories to come on Trefoil Street.
A little scared.................
For all intents and purposes, I will be using the word "black" as a description of an individual. This is not meant to offend but to simply describe the person.
Yesterday, while driving home I pulled out onto N.Market St. and went on my way. I noticed halfway down the road that there was a car coming up quickly on my tail. To not get hit, I sped up a tad. The driver then proceeded to ride a lane to the left of me, and in my rearview mirror I could see him or her shuffling in the back seat. My turn was coming up, so I put on my blinker and moved into the left turn lane. I slowed down at the light and the driver whipped around me on the right side, slowed down, rolled the window down, and gestured in a manner that looked as if he was holding a gun or just making his hand look like a gun. The shuffling in the back seat had me worried when he slowed down and pointed either his hand or a real gun at me. This happened completely fast, so it's hard to tell.
NOW, this is a childish, immature way to act....whether you pull a gun on someone or even gesture you are putting yourself in a bad light. This man was black, and proceeded to use the old age scare tactic on a 28yr old woman. Now, I'm not one to at all be racist, I don't see color. I see people. However, all this #blacklivesmatter, and they do....but all lives matters. I would ask those of all races, to speak to those who are so against everyone else. You ask all of us to change to accept you, but there's a handful of people who make it difficult and run the gamut. Now, I pray that I never ever see this man again. I pray for him he realizes that he has some behavioral things he needs to fix, and I pray he doesn't hurt himself or someone else.
We can only improve ourselves first, the rest of the world will fall in line.
Where Is My Home??
Ah, home hunting and all the drama, annoyance, financial crap that goes with it. There's so many wants and needs on both sides of what our first home "should" be like. If we, were basing our requirements for our dream home, we'd be building from scratch!
Who knew the process would be so time consuming? It's almost as stressful as planning a wedding. Ha ha ha.
Well, here we go, now it's time to flip the coin......Are we staying or leaving our apartment for the next step??
Heading Home.....
GO PANTHERS!!!!!
PATUXENT WHAT?!
PATUXENT WHO!?
GO PHS!!!
I can't believe I am heading home for my ten year high school reunion!!! It has been such a joy helping plan this special event with my fellow panthers!
It definitely doesn't feel like it's been ten years. Feels a lot longer! HA! So much has happened in the ten years, I've moved to a different state, got engaged, got married, and now we're starting a family. It's not overly exciting, just pretty standard, but I love it! I wouldn't trade my life for anything!!!
I really am excited for this weekend! Class of 2005 coming home!!!
And We're Back!!!!
Well, we finally got some of the professional pics from Meera & Nehal's wedding.....See below!!!
ORIGINAL POST BELOW
It was a quick weekend!!! Once we landed, we hopped in our rental car, got dinner, and drove to our Airbnb in Kensington, Md to toss our stuff aside and get in 8hrs of sleep.
Waking up on Friday morning late was heavenly. It's always nice knowing you don't have to go to work. We piddled around, until my mom arrived to go to lunch. We picked her up in Silver Spring and drove to Bethesda to eat at the American Tap Room Bar & Grill. Delish!
After lunch, we went back to our Airbnb and got ready for the rehearsal and Garba. It was a long rehearsal, but it was so wonderful to see the Bride! She was absolutely radiant!!!!
I love my Meera!!!! Once we got everything down, we all went our separate ways and got dressed up for the Garba. This was our first Garba & Raas and I couldn't have loved it any more. I had a great time actually doing the garba and dressing in traditional Indian attire. It was such a joy to experience!
Getting my garba on.
 Come Sat morning!!! A Quaker ceremony and a Hindu ceremony. It was a 12 to 14 hr day and worth every second. The bridal party was a hit and when we entered into the Hindu reception, we did the Bernie. Just made people laugh. Fantastic! Upbeat bhangra music and killer lights, plus the food was amazing! I love Indian cuisine and always get excited when I can get my fix!!
Beyond thrilled for Nehal & Meera!! Two destined to be together!!! 5/16/14!!!
